I BELIEVE:
UNHOLY TERROR AND UNLIKELY HEROES

by Austin Herder

Who are you when your back is against the wall? Most of Jack's friends thought he was just another daydreamer, but what happened to his classmates in the hallways of their small high school would change their perception of Jack forever. When his school is suddenly attacked, Jack's quiet daydreams transform instantaneously into an unthinkable nightmare.

As the entire high school is catapulted into chaos, Jack and a few other refugees face obstacle after obstacle in their frenzied search for freedom. How far will Jack's instincts take him when it seems there is no way out? Will the band of students be able to take back the school? It could depend precisely on what they believe.

Austin Herder weaves a masterful tale of suspense in this rather intense story. Through his unique writing style, Austin helps us understand the thoughts and feelings of the main character Jack – and he does it with very few words. The acclaimed author of Stripe and Blessed Are the Peacemakers makes his short story debut with this clear and concise message for teens and adults alike. Once you begin reading I Believe, you'll find it impossible to put down until the very last page.
